Pussypaws Pleasure Faire, a Renaissance fever dream celebrating the sex lives of artists with disabilites, was created during a week-long residency and premiered in May 2025 to sold out audiences at the Center for Performance Research.
Pussypaws Puppetry returned to the stage this year more rude and ruttish than ever before! Pussypaws Pleasure Faire, a full-bodied celebration of eroticism and its spoils, expanded the troupe’s yearslong quest to celebrate stories about the sex, love, and fantasy lives of artists with disabilities.
The show was created during an 8-day technical residency at the Center for Performance Research (CPR) in Brooklyn. A team of artists with and without disabilities converged at CPR for intense twelve hours-long days of puppetry, with puppet making in the morning, blocking in the afternoon, and rehearsing in the evening.
The culmination was a raunchy Renaissance faire that featured five disabled artists performing live retellings of their sexual exploits and desires. The tales were brought to life through fantastical handmade puppets made by a team of over 50 artists with and without disabilities working together. These monologues, punctuated by group musical numbers and corny medieval jokes, coalesced into a bawdy celebration of the erotic experience of being alive!
